  • The artist's book " Traces and references" was printed in April 2008 on the occasion of Sara Montani's exhibition "Traces and references" curated by Alberto Veca at the Centro dell'Incisione Alzaia Naviglio Grande in Milan.
    Contains the poem
    "Today" by Alberto Veca:

    Light, a trace
however visible to a patient research
: it is the advice of Arianna today. [...]

These initial lines suggested to me the subject of the print contained within the book: a reference to the female figure, almost a doll, with precious embroidery, the result of a patient research of the subtle texture.
The doll is for Arianna, the granddaughter that Alberto Veca remembers in the text. Missed after a
few days of existence , she made a very short journey into the world: Yet you have gained experience - writes Veca - the whole experience and the last gesture was not the same as the first .

The outside of the book offers the subtle mark of a dry print obtained with a chalcographic press from a fabric matrix, an embroidery, another patient journey, the one traced by needle, thread and hand that claim the skillful making of industrious hands.
