  • "STRATUS" is the title of the artist's book created in 2020 by Veronica Azzinari in collaboration with Anonima Impressori and which acts as a "seal" to the artist's artistic and aesthetic research starting from 2016, turning his interest to the events of nature with particular attention to the less evident processes, the silent ones that deposit and precisely "stratify" within each element (rock, leaf, stream, etc.).

Stratifications are also spoken of in the technique that accompanies Veronica Azzinari's artistic production, in fact she works with intaglio and each image created is the overlapping / layering of multiple matrices on the same sheet of paper and which in her case offer as a result final a sort of mapping described by the deposition of natural elements and which recalls the organicity of the paths that can often be found on rocks, bark and leaves.

The slow layering of information, codes, events and phenomena within the same body defines its final form and character, but Veronica Azzinari wants to remember that everything that is observed is not simply what is revealed before the eyes but rather the sum of the history that leads to it and with this reflection clarifies the importance of respect for the origins.

"You walk on the crest of the mountain", this sentence reported in the text inside the book, is addressed to the human being, the one who is treading on the last "layer" of the mountain / territory since it is the fruit of that territory. The mountain represents the solidity of a very ancient sum of processes that must be respected.

The last sentence of the text instead invites man to recognize himself / find himself inside a deep forest through the feeling of fear.

The human being has a tendency to tame and shape his Mother Nature in order to build around him an environment and conditions that can be easier to access and where he can feel safe as "dominant", but in this attitude he he loses his sense of self by slipping into the danger of illusion.

Finding oneself then in the depths of a wood is symbolically digging into the depths of oneself to then find oneself in that wood, in that nature which is our origin and from which we cannot leave. Going down into the depths, therefore tending towards the most ancient layers, for the “distorted” man, is equivalent to sliding towards the unknown, towards darkness and disorientation, bringing him to a state of fear.

This state must be crossed as fundamental for the achievement of a truth.
